How to Uncover Your Favorite Interior Design Style

Our homes are a reflection of us, our likes and dislikes, personal taste, family memories and so much more. When designing our homes there is no right or wrong answer to what our design style is...there is just discovery.

Step 1. Get Inspired

Finding inspiration these days is as easy as picking up your phone. However, with so many options it can become overwhelming. I suggest to my clients to Pin and Google search to your hearts' content WITHOUT thinking about why you like each image or how you could recreate the look. This will help to avoid overwhelm. Organize your finds on Pinterest by making boards by room, color, or common styles: traditional, modern, etc.

Step 2. Look for Design Themes

Now that you have all of your pins or images saved you can start to find common design themes. Does each room have a gorgeous rug? Are there modern edges in your images? Are you being drawn to moody hues? As your designer I can also help you find these themes if you get stuck!

Step 3. Create Your Design Concept

Before going on any journey it is important to have some directions. So before making any purchases it is best to fine-tune the perfect design direction. This is done by making a mood or concept board. As your designer I offer to create mood boards for you for each space you have in mind. If you are more of a DIY person, Canva.com has some easy tools to use to help create your own.
